It’s a Cry Out

Stop getting after people,

For not fitting your race driven HOA

It would be a boring world,

If we all looked, talked and felt the exact same way.

Stand up, speak out and say it’s not OK.

This intolerance of tolerance can’t go on another day.

Where will you tell your kids you were

On racial independence day?

It’s a cry out

No to what I know that I should know to say no:

To the treatment

To the suffering

To the Indignity

To the lack of humility

It’s a cry out

No to what I know that I should know to say no:

To the treatment

To the suffering

To the indignity

To the lack of humility

It’s a cry out

White male, I was born on a pedestal,

Innocent until guilty, my crimes are hypothetical.

I see flashing lights,

It’s a mere inconvenience.

I’ve never had to beg for my life,

Just a small amount of lenience.

I get pulled over, not cuffed

Questioned, not searched.

Why do I simply have to be compliant

To not have the right to remain silent?

It’s not enough to see why enough is enough

To put an end to tyranny

So we can see color and not hate

To alter someone’s fate

Why is it so hard to love instead of discriminate?

My opinion is unpopular? I dont care.

I’ve never had my future held altered by a body cam.

It’s a cry out

No to what I know that I should know to say no:

To the treatment

To the suffering

To the Indignity

To the lack of humility

It’s a cry out

Not to what I know that I should know to say no:

To the treatment

To the suffering

To the indignity

To the lack of humility

It’s a cry out

Do you ever feel like being white is just too good to be true?

Are you after what is fair or just convenient for you?

You see, if it’s rolling around in here (Head)

It will come out through here (Mouth)

Until you feel it in here (Heart)

And its felt everywhere

Be better than acceptable

Rise above looking the other way

The next George Floyd doesn’t have another day

Now you have to choose,

Your legacy or your white supremacy

In the fight for the oppressed, will you do what you can do?

What will the history books say about you?

It’s a cry out

No to what I know that I should know to say no:

To the treatment

To the suffering

To the Indignity

To the lack of humility

It’s a cry out

Not to what I know that I should know to say no:

To the treatment

To the suffering

To the indignity

To the lack of humility

It’s a cry out
