Picture this: It’s 7:00 a.m. and you are getting ready for the workday ahead. As soon as you wake up, you find out your phone didn’t charge overnight, so it is sitting at a whopping 18%. Then, you go to the kitchen to make your breakfast and realize you completely forgot to buy more eggs. Then, to top it all off, you spill coffee on your shirt, forcing you to change your whole outfit! Sounds like a pretty rough start to the day…
Yet, consider this, say this all happened before 8:30 a.m., are you going to let that shaky start, ruin the rest of your day?
One day, in my public speaking class, my classmate gave a speech on her favorite quote. This one, happened to be from her grandfather, who said, “There are no bad days, only bad moments.” This is such an amazing quote! When we look at situations from this perspective, it can make a world of difference.
What’s amazing about life is that we are always experiencing new somethings. Specifically, when looking at time, we are given a brand-new month or a brand-new day or even a brand-new minute! In other cases, we may experience a brand-new job or a brand-new school. Essentially, life presents us with new opportunities for new beginnings!
Finally, with a nearly dead phone, no breakfast, and different outfit, you can get in the car and say to yourself, “It’s that kind of day, I guess…” or you can choose to take a more optimistic route and push towards a new, better moment to create a day that may not be so bad.
So, if things are not-so-great at 8:30 a.m., you have the power to make the day better by 8:31 a.m.!
